It will be September 22-23 in Louisville, Kentucky just a couple of days before the World Equestrian Games. It will again be held at the Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel. We set it up this way so that if you plan on attending the games, you can attend our conference just before they take place. We have booked a much bigger room for this conference and expect to have between 300-500 people in attendance. Karen Pickering, owner/publisher of The Northwest Horse Source, was raised on television’s “Mr. Ed” and the horse classics. She wore out a couple of rocking horses before convincing her parents to find a way, with their modest means, to get her a Black Beauty of her own. Black Beauty he was not. An ill-tempered, shaggy bay carrying the lines of various breeds, Brandy was a poorly trained young horse that quickly figured out how much Karen didn’t know. That did not deter her passion to work with horses. From its humble beginnings as a local newsletter in 1995, Karen conceived of The Northwest Horse Source as an affordable resource that would connect the equine community through the printed page. Originally intended to connect horse people with events and resources in the northwest corner of Washington State, the magazine took on a life of its own and developed a community that now stretches from the northern reaches of the United States, south through Washington and Oregon into Northern California and east to include Idaho and Montana. It has become a leading educational resource for the equine community in the Northwest while always remaining free to the reader. Gamma Oryzanol has its own history and science. It is a plant sterol/hormone with anabolic properties in horses and other animals. The role it plays in supporting fat metabolism and increasing protein synthesis is well known. Gamma oryzanol is a safe and very effective alternative to injectable anabolic steroids such as Equipoise or Winstrol-getting equivalent strengthening results with none of the harmful side effects.There is also documented studies showing nitrogen retention is improved. Information is also emerging showing fat emulsion gamma oryzanol fed daily is helpful in getting problem mares into foal and maintaining good sterility in stallions!
